Privacy
Last updated 5 November 2026
- Tapping or scanning a sign never asks you to sign in or give your name.
- We count visits and button taps as daily totals. We do not store your IP address, device ID, or browser fingerprint with those totals.
- Public business pages set no cookies. We only use a cookie to keep business staff signed in to the portal.
- If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, we don’t count your visit.
Who we are
Back to Hello is operated by Dolphy Technology LLC (“we”). We make NFC and QR signs that open a business’s page, and we run the pages and the portal businesses use to manage them. For privacy questions, contact us at the contact details your Back to Hello operator gave you.
If you tap or scan a sign
The page belongs to the business that put up the sign. It shows that business’s links, such as reviews, social media, menus, bookings, offers and contact details. To give the business useful numbers without tracking you, we record only:
| What we record | Why |
|---|---|
| The day, the business, the sign and whether it was opened by NFC tap or QR scan | So the business can see which sign is used, for example the front counter versus a table. |
| Which button was tapped (for example “Google review” or “Save contact”) | So the business knows which links people find useful. |
| A broad device type: iPhone/iPad, Android, other or unknown | To check the page works well on every phone. |
| A random, single-use event number kept for 30 minutes | So one visit isn’t counted twice if the page reloads. |
These are added to daily totals. The totals don’t contain your IP address, the full browser user-agent, your location, or any identifier that follows you between visits or businesses. Totals are kept for 90 days and then deleted. Cleanup runs as the service is used, so on a quiet page deletion can run a little late.
A count shows that a link was opened. It does not tell us or the business who you are, whether you posted a review, or whether you saved a contact.
We don’t count visits from known bots, link previews, or browsers that send Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signals.
If you leave a review or private feedback
Some businesses let you write a review or send private feedback on their page. Both are optional and you never need an account. We store what you enter: a rating, your comment, an optional public name, an email address if you want a reply, your choices about replies and publication, the date, and which sign or link you came from (NFC, QR or direct). We don’t store your IP address with it.
- Reviews are read by the business before anything appears. If you agreed, the business may show your rating, comment and public name on its Back to Hello page and in a review box on its own website. Your email is never shown. The business may choose not to show some reviews, and the page says so.
- Private feedback goes only to the business and its operator, and is never published.
- We keep your email only if you tick the box allowing the business to reply, and it is used only for that reply.
Nothing you write here is posted to Google. Only the business owner and its Back to Hello operator can read submissions. To have a review or feedback deleted, ask the business or contact us, and we’ll remove it from the page and our database. Submissions are kept until the business or the author asks for deletion, or the business leaves Back to Hello.
Links that leave the page
Buttons such as Google reviews, Instagram, WhatsApp or a booking site take you to that service. What happens there is covered by that service’s own privacy policy, not ours. We don’t add tracking parameters to those links.
Save to Contacts
“Save to Contacts” downloads a standard contact card (vCard) with the business’s name, phone, email, address and page link. The file comes from the business’s page, and your phone shows it to you before anything is saved, so you can cancel. Nothing about you or your contacts is sent back to us.
Offers
Offers shown on a business page are set by that business. Offers on Back to Hello are never conditional on leaving a review or a rating. You can always use every link without taking an offer.
Business staff and portal users
If a business gives you a portal account, we store your name, email address and a one-way scrambled form of your password (we can’t read it). When you sign in, we set one cookie named __Host-bth_session that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. Signing out, changing your password, or an administrator disabling your account ends the session on our servers straight away. We keep an audit history of changes made in the portal, such as publishing or permission changes, so businesses can see who changed what.
Businesses upload their own logos and images. We check image files and store them on our servers. Images on a page that is not live are only shown to people with access to that business.
If you send us an inquiry
When you send a project brief from our website, we store your name, business name, email, optional phone number and message, so we can reply. Only Back to Hello staff can see it. We keep inquiries for as long as needed to answer and follow up, and we delete them on request.
Where data is kept and who processes it
Back to Hello runs on servers we operate, hosted by Hetzner Online. Our hosting and security layer may keep short-lived technical logs (which can include IP addresses) to protect the service from abuse. Those logs are separate from business insights and are not shared with businesses. We don’t sell personal information or use it for advertising, and we don’t use third-party analytics or advertising scripts on business pages.
Your choices
- Turn on Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control in your browser so your visits aren’t counted.
- Portal users can ask us to correct or delete their account. Ask the business you work with, or contact us.
- A business can ask us to export or delete its page, images and insights.
Because visitor totals don’t identify anyone, we can’t find or delete one person’s visits in them. They are deleted after 90 days as described above.
Children
Back to Hello is a tool for businesses and isn’t directed at children. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
If we change how we handle data, we’ll update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect.
